Traditional capoeira is a dancing sport. It was self defense disguised as dancing so their training methods reflect that. If they want to break out of this stereotype they need to make it a striking sport rather than a dancing sport. Coming from someone who loves capoeira btw. Im trying to implement it into my fighting style but its not just straight tossed in, im adjusting it to fit more into your average striking sport

IDK after all the years I still find bridge rotation and macaco to be way easier than all the previously mentioned moves. Also "macaco from standing position" was indeed scary to try but very simple to do. Then again, I had a break for over a year after that and forgot how to do it...😂 Handspin is only demanding to force yourself to spin the legs. However for me the cheat was to just lose balance while doing handstand, then the spinning motion happens on its own. But I admit that it's way less refined compared to a properly executed handspin. Overall it was curious to see how you rate the movements, even though I personally see them in a different order. Ty for the video.

We should hide the fact capoeira can be used in fighting, just like in the 16s lol, its like a hidden fighting style practiced by not many but effective.

Capoeira has some of the most powerful moves, but the thing is you are sacrificing your safety to defend to deliver a very impressive shot. Capoeira kicks deliver a greater striking force than Prime Mike Tyson on his best day.

I'm also Brazilian, as most of these people commenting here. My late father learned capoeira with the legend himself, Mestre Bimba. So I do have reasons to admire the art because it's attached to our origin. That being said, you can't negate the arguments by Icy Mike and Gabriel Varga. These guys know their stuff, they are qualified martial artists who have an unbiased view of every martial art, not only our dear capoeira. Capoeira is part of our culture and very important to us, but in streets and competition? It's not very effective (which doesn't mean it's unuseful, know the difference), that's the cold truth. The same can be said to many other martial arts: Aikido, Wing Chun, Taijiquan, and others. They can have specific techniques that are overlooked, but that doesn't mean they are all-rounder such as Muay Thai, Sambo, Wresting, etc. If you look at the top athletes, such as Demetrius Johnson, José Aldo, Khabib, Georges St-Pierre, Alex Pereira, they always practice the most traditional effective martial arts.

Every Martial Arts effectiveness depends upon the skills of the artist and the situation. However, some MA's are better than other. Capoeira is very superior to static styles.
